I hope you all had a great weekend.

Our weekend started with sad goodbyes. It was very hard to drive away from Matt’s parents house last Saturday.

We drove all the way to Chicago for our flight with teared eyes and talking about how nice our visit was.

We live so far away from our families… not an easy thing.

Sad goodbyes but happiness for having them in our lives. Thank you mom and pompon for your love.

We love you!

Welcome to Chicago

bits and pieces of Chicago from my Iphone

Well everyone, I know I haven’t been around here much the last couple of weeks but I will catch up soon, I promise!

For now, we are relaxing between Illinois and Indiana with family and friends and Matt and I even got a chance to escape for four days, just the two of us. We’ve been in Chicago since Saturday afternoon and I can’t say enough good things about this city.

The weather is perfect. Chilly, but with beautiful blue skies and fluffy clouds

In only a day and a half we probably walked a little over 10 miles… Oh my poor legs, but it’s all worth it. I love discovering new places and going back to places we’ve been before.

The people watching is always fun, specially in this weather, with all the boots, scarves and beautiful fall coats… I’m very jealous right now BUT I know in a month or so this city will be freezing and those same girls will have a few more layers on top, hiding all the nice clothes beneath and then I won’t be so jealous anymore:)

We still have two days left and I can’t wait to see more Chicago.

Here are some pictures of day one and two from my Iphone.

Walking around the windy city…

Kingston Mines. Our favorite Blues club in Chicago. Eddie Shaw and The Wolf Gang Band rocked the house and us until 2 am!

Fogo de Chao Churrascaria

Google maps came in handy. Where next, Matt?

Starbucks on Michigan Avenue

The Bean, art on bananas and Billy Goat for lunch

Chicago River

Matt and I at the Bean and Taylor, the police horse… he was such a ham:)

More beautiful sights and drinks at Harry Caray’s at the Navy Pier

lake front trail and more Taylor

The Grant Park and Buckingham fountain (The one in the Married with Children show opening)

Giordano’s pizza and the ring my mom gave to me for my last birthday

As we were walking by the stadium Matt and I saw this guy getting down on his knees and he asked her to marry him. She said yes with lots of tears. She kept looking to her ring and hugging him with happiness in her eyes… This made my day.

Love is a beautiful thing!

Lara

Lú! Great pictures and what a great vacation! Bummed we weren’t able to get together when we were down in Southern California! Beautiful family you have my friend! Hope to see you and the family next time we are in California. XOXO Lara :-)

Lura

God, i miss this city! Your pictures brought tears to my eyes

We made it to Indiana

We left Philo and headed straight to mom and pompon’s house in Indiana

But Matt had a meeting and we stopped in Danville, IN for his meeting and Maya and I were out and about, exploring the beautiful scenery

We found a playground by a lake and hung out there until daddy could join us again

It is amazing the green, the never ending land… it is so calming and stress free

The weather is perfect right now. I had my first pumpkin latte in Indianapolis… I was waiting for the “right” weather for my favorite fall drink:)
